Make a difference. Be
the difference. Become an Everyday Hero.
Judge Hatchett's Corner
It takes all of us, a village of everyday people, to stand up
and commit to making a meaningful difference in the lives of abused
and neglected children. It starts very simply with one volunteer at
a time.
Far too many of our children are reported abused and neglected or
worse. We hear about these sad situations in the media, and although
many of the children survive their abuse, they often cannot live
safely in their homes and are placed in the overburdened child
welfare systems throughout our nation.
Today, there are so many organizations responsible for a stake in a
child’s welfare. It is rare that any single person really knows the
child and what will help to ensure that he or she will be placed in
a safe, permanent home where the child can reach full potential. For
many children, their CASA or GAL volunteer is the only adult
consistently in their lives during this difficult time. They often
just need to know someone cares and is listening to them. While
there are many organizations that help with the plight of youth in
foster care, only one empowers everyday citizens as appointed officers
of the court to advocate for an abused child. That organization is
the National CASA Association.
We invite you to learn more about the National Court Appointed
Special Advocate (CASA) Association. Become a part of our village to
collectively raise our children and ensure their safety. Become a
CASA volunteer and become an everyday hero to a child who needs you!
