Overview

CASA programs are the only organizations that empower everyday citizens as appointed members of the court. In an overburdened social welfare system, abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks. CASA volunteers change that. Appointed by judges, advocates typically handle just one case at a time—and commit to staying on that case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. CASA volunteers provide that one constant that children need in order to thrive.

Are you ready to stand up for a child who needs you? Inquire today about the power you have to change a child's life. Click on “Enter Zip” in the “Act Locally” box above, enter your zip code and click on the “Search” button. Note: You will be taken to a page that is only in English.

"I feel very proud to be a part of this organization. To be an actor is a beautiful thing but only really when you can help the public; help those less fortunate than you. There are many ways that you can help National CASA, but what we need now are volunteers, in particular Latinos who can speak Spanish and English."

There are 91,000 Hispanic/Latino children currently in the foster care system and fewer than 2,000 Hispanic/Latino volunteers to serve them. In large cities in the west and southwest, the need is far greater. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed. While all volunteers communicate in English during court proceedings, they are often working with individuals whose first language is Spanish. Navigating language barriers is critical.
